Smoke Detector

NASA invented a more modern version of the first smoke detector. The new smoke detector protects us by going off if there is a fire. But it’s not too sensitive. It doesn’t go off when there is not a fire. The space crew needs this to know when there is a fire without false alarms.

Bicycle Helmet

The Giro Company wanted to make a new kind of bicycle helmet. The old helmets were heavy and they made riders feel warm. NASA shared technology from the fighter planes from World War II. Giro used the technology to develop a lightweight helmet that improves riders’ safety and makes them go faster. It has air vents to keep riders cool.
